Meet the Stones: Lapis, Rose Quartz, Tiger's Eye and More

Every stone has its own color, hardness and personality. Here is a short guide to the materials you will find across our collection.

Lapis lazuli

A deep royal blue prized since antiquity, often flecked with gold colored pyrite. Striking in animal forms, as in the four horse bust.

Rose quartz

A soft pink quartz with a gentle, milky glow. Hard and durable, it holds graceful curves beautifully. See the deer family.

Tiger’s eye

Golden brown with a shimmering band of light that shifts as the piece turns. Bold and warm in both sacred and animal subjects.

Sodalite

Deep blue with white veining. Slightly softer than quartz, it carves into calm, contemplative figures such as Lord Shiva.

Nephrite jade

Exceptionally tough and smooth to the touch, with a deep green tone. A classic material for bowls and vessels, like our jade bowl.

Yellow aragonite and yellow calcite

Warm honey tones with soft banding. These are gentler stones, best displayed indoors and cleaned with a dry cloth.

Blue quartz, green quartz and red jasper

Quartz varieties bring clarity and durability. Red jasper adds an earthy, grounded red that suits traditional figures.

Green aventurine

Our most carved stone. Read the full guide to green aventurine.
