A 15-inch reclining Lord Ganesha hand-carved from translucent green quartz, a crystalline stone that lets light travel into the body of the piece and gives the carving a soft internal glow.
Ganesha is shown in the vishram or resting posture, reclining on one elbow across a carved cushioned base, trunk curved, crown and ornaments fully detailed, with the drapery worked in flowing folds along the length of the figure. The horizontal composition is far less common than the seated form and suits low, wide surfaces where an upright statue would feel cramped.
