Turquoise Holy Face Carving – 1.5 Inch Carved Cameo Plaque

A carved turquoise plaque of roughly 1.5 inches showing the Holy Face, Christ crowned with thorns, set against a radiant halo. Carved from a single piece of natural turquoise.

The halo is cut as a ring of long, separated rays that taper to points and stand clear of the ground, throwing hard shadows across the stone. Within it the face is worked in high relief: the crown of thorns twisted across the brow, hair and beard cut in flowing strands, and the robe gathered in fine parallel folds across the shoulders. Relief of this depth in a stone as soft and brittle as turquoise leaves no room for correction, a slipped cut takes the whole piece.

The turquoise is an even sky blue, lightly flecked with the darker matrix natural to the stone. The reverse is left flat and unpolished: this is a carved plaque rather than a finished pendant, intended to be set by a jeweller into a bezel or frame of your choosing, or displayed face-up on a stand. It is supplied unset, without a bail or mount.

Because every block of stone is unique, the color, banding and inclusions of the piece you receive will vary slightly from the photographs. That variation is the signature of a genuine natural stone carving.
