A 10-inch Lord Ganesha carved from richly saturated green aventurine, seated against a backdrop of overlapping leaves that the artisan has cut in high relief around the figure.
The leaf canopy functions as a prabhavali, the arched aureole of classical temple sculpture, but rendered in nature rather than flame motifs, with each frond veined and undercut so light passes behind the edges. Ganesha himself is seated on a lotus base, trunk curved left, with a mouse worked in at the foot.
Deep green with a strong silhouette, it holds its own on a mantel, an altar shelf, a console or a reception desk. A well-judged gift for a housewarming, a new office or a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.
